In these paintings, I am examining the relationship between our urban activities and our perception of nature.

In the Vancouver paintings, by juxtaposing familiar urban elements against the ever-present view of Grouse Mountain, I question the idea that Vancouver could be the "Greenest City."

In fact, Vancouver is the largest port on the West Coast of North America and the largest port in Canada. Vancouver is a city that profits greatly from the export of the natural resources of Canada, the ongoing pillage of our national inheritance.

Vancouver's water and mountain views have come to typify urban nature and help support the marketed image of Vancouver's healthy lifestyle.
